KAMERS/Makers began with a simple yet powerful vision:
To create an inspiring, accessible platform where talented South African artisans could connect, collaborate, and share their work with a wider audience.
What started in 2003 as Kamers vol Geskenke (Rooms Full of Gifts) in a Stellenbosch home has grown into South Africa’s largest artisan pop-up market.
Today, we host six national shows annually, attracting nearly 60,000 visitors and showcasing the work of over 300 carefully curated Makers.
These shows generate over R100 million each year for the South African creative economy.
Every item at a KM show is proudly South African: beautifully conceived, thoughtfully designed, and meticulously handcrafted.
More than just a marketplace, KM has become a trusted launchpad for small businesses and emerging creative brands.
From the beginning, KAMERS/Makers has been rooted in care and community. In a retail landscape often challenging - especially for women entrepreneurs - we’ve built a nurturing environment founded on family, support, and shared success.
Many Makers describe KM not just as a platform, but as a family that uplifts, inspires, and champions one another.
Over two decades, this has evolved into a thriving creative network. It’s a space where ideas are shared, collaborations flourish, and mutual support is encouraged - fuelled by honesty, tolerance, and a shared belief in our collective creative potential.
